Verizon iPhone 4 Data Plan Warning. http://TheRecoveringBanker.com
It appears that the Verizon iPhone is going to have another advantage over AT&T's version of the device when it launches next month: an unlimited data plan.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the company will offer customers a $30 per month plan with no data restrictions. AT&T — which dumped its unlimited data option for new customers last year — currently offers 2GB of data for $25 per month (though some customers had unlimited plans grandfathered in).
AT&T customers currently also need to pay an additional $20 per month for tethering. That's all the more significant since a Verizon iPhone can also serve as a mobile hotspot for up to 5 devices, though it's not yet clear if customers will have to pay extra for that feature (Update: Verizon has said that the hotspot option will cost customers $20 per month and include 2GB of bandwidth for devices that use it).
Of course, there are still some advantages for the AT&T iPhone, most notably its ability to handle both voice and data simultaneously.
Verizon may reveal more details about pricing later today as the company announces its earnings. We'll update here if we learn more.
